Utku Başyazıcı
Mechanical Engineer Ph.D. Energy Efficiency Consultant Utku is the General Coordinator of DOXA87 and an industry-recognised mechanical engineer with 20 years of experience in both commercial building HVAC design and specialised applications. Since 2004, he has been involved in various aspects of building services engineering as part of Arup’s Istanbul and London offices. He has served as the lead design engineer on major projects in the UK, Turkey, and Turkmenistan. Throughout his career, he has been committed to pursuing sustainable design and energy efficiency solutions. He is also a certified BREEAM International Assessor. Utku has delivered industry presentations at national and international congresses on various engineering topics, and his work has been published in several national technical journals. In 2015, he transitioned from his role as Associate Designer at Arup to establish an independent consultancy alongside former colleagues. This led to the founding of DOXA87 Sustainable Design Platform—a multidisciplinary design collective that aims to bring together skilled industry professionals under a shared sustainable agenda.

Tamer Hafızoğlu
Mechanical Engineer MSc. Mechanical Designer Tamer is an experienced HVAC system designer at DOXA87, with a background that combines both site and design expertise. He began his career as a site engineer on the İş Bank Towers project—one of the most significant high-rise developments of its time. Since 2000, he has worked as a design engineer and design manager on high-rise buildings, hotels, residential complexes, offices, and sports facilities. He has successfully delivered HVAC designs in countries such as Russia, Turkmenistan, Georgia, and Saudi Arabia, demonstrating the flexibility to adapt to diverse challenges and local regulations. As part of his continued interest in energy efficiency, he completed his research on building energy modelling and earned his master’s degree in 2013. Before founding his own consultancy, he led major projects as a senior HVAC design engineer at Arup. He has been collaborating with DOXA87 since last year, currently serving as the technical coordinator of the team.

Aziz Özkan
Electrical Engineer BSc Electrical Designer Aziz is an electrical design engineer at DOXA87, with experience in airport, hospital, museum, office, luxury hotel, residential, and multi-purpose high-rise building projects in Turkey and abroad, including Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, Libya, and Nigeria. His airport design experience covers both high-voltage and low-voltage distribution strategy development, as well as the design of specialised systems for airport services. He was also a member of the design team for Istanbul’s new iconic TV and radio broadcasting tower, which is currently under construction. Aziz has a particular interest in BIM-based electrical system design and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) systems.

Bahar Lakerta
Architect BIM Consultant Bahar is an accomplished architect with extensive experience in software-driven architectural design solutions. Since 2004, she has worked as an architect and project coordinator on various projects in locations such as Turkmenistan, Qatar, and Iraq. Throughout her career, she has focused on BIM-based design challenges and improving design processes through the use of advanced software tools. Driven by her idealistic and software-centric approach to architecture, she established her own independent consultancy to promote the use of BIM technologies, parametric design, and the standardisation of BIM workflows. Bahar is also involved in developing customised software solutions to meet specific client needs. She is currently part of the DOXA87 team, leading the firm’s BIM operations. Her approach centres on creating tailored BIM consultancy programs based on the unique requirements of each client.

Vasiliki Malakasi
Architect MSc Lighting Designer Vasiliki is industry recognized lighting designer of Doxa87 team. She graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2004 and she is a practicing architect in Greece since 2005. Lighting design started as an area of interest and soon gave her a new academic and professional direction. She completed the MSc Light and Lighting course in UCL, Bartlett School of Architecture in 2006 and soon after joined Arup Lighting in London. Vasiliki’s research on Urban Lighting Patterns on Glasgow’s riverfront was shortlisted at the Young Lighter Awards in 2009 and was later published from University of Lausanne. The topic further enhanced was presented at the PLDC 2011 Lighting Conference in Madrid. In July 2013, Vasiliki moved from a senior lighting designer role at Arup to develop independent architectural, lighting design consultancy. She is currently collaborating with Doxa87 in UK and Turkey. Private lighting design work aside, Vasiliki is currently the lighting advisor for a UK National Trust Foundation and she is active with the IALD Membership Committee.
